I wanted to introduct myself a little bit.
My name is Barb Gary and I am the webmaster of top5tv.com.
I'm a stay at home mom now, who loves television and movies.
I love all things television and entertainment.
I worked at RCA for 14 years so everyday was about making a tv set from the ground up to me.
It was an exciting process and I enjoyed seeing all the steps involved in the daily life of a budding tv set.
Sure, it was a hard job, but I did like seeing all the behind the scenes stuff that goes into forming the perfect designed tv set.
I mainly was a line packer but also worked as an inspector, painter's assistant, union steward, and every job they had had up and down the conveyor line. Whew, now that I think about it that was a lot of different positions that I covered, because that assembly line went on for miles.
I knew that place like the back of my hand.
I was trained in every position they had in the plastics factory.
So, I saw every aspect, every detail of How a tv is made.
It's a pretty interesting process.
It's actually a long process with hundreds of people responsible for doing just 1 certain little job in order for it to work correctly.
I don't know why I found that exciting but I did.
Every little job, every little tool, was important.
If you skipped just one little step, you'd have a defective tv set.
And no one wants a defective tv!
Working at the RCA plant taught me a lot about television.
Things that I had taken for granted before.
It's just amazing all the designing, ideas and concepts that have to be discussed, practiced and then put into place in order to make a tv set perform correctly.
Of course, I worked more in the "factory" sections so I know how much work is actually involved in a tv box.
From the ingredients to put into the molds to the presses that created the pieces I saw it all.
You'd be surprised just how many hundreds of people it takes to make a tv set.
After seeing all the hard work that actually goes into making a tv set work I wanted to pay it some due respect.
So, that's why this site was formed.
I wanted somewhere to go where my opinions and other's could be expressed about tv shows.
Hopefully, others do enjoy tv as much as I do so this site will have a chance to take off.
This site is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
We Hoosiers know a thing or two about television watching. I welcome everyone to join us!
